The Seattle Seahawks will now be seeking their third offensive coordinator in as many years. On Sunday morning, the news was broken that Seattle's current OC, Klint Kubiak, is aiming to work out a deal to become the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Kubiak interviewed with the Raiders and Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, and it was widely expected the Vegas job was "his to lose."

Now, the speculation has ended. It is important to note the Raiders cannot officially hire Kubiak yet. They will have to wait until the conclusion of Super Bowl LX to have him put pen to paper, but it's expected to happen.

The Raiders have been a largely dysfunctional franchise for the majority of the 21st century, and were outright abysmal last season with a 3-14 record. However, this job is far more appealing than many might assume. Kubiak will be inheriting the No. 1 overall pick, where Heisman-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza is waiting to be selected. He will also have close to $90 million in cap space with Tom Brady as part of the ownership group, and we all know Brady's insatiable desire to win.

Bottom line: the Raiders are a blank slate and Kubiak has a rare opportunity to create a team in his image. Not many coaches get this chance, so turning it down was simply not on the table for Kubiak.

Unfortunately, this means the Seahawks are probably going to lose more than just their offensive coordinator. When Seattle hired Kubiak, he took most of his offensive staff from New Orleans with him to the Pacific Northwest. It won't take much imagination to figure there may be more than a few who will want to follow Kubiak to Sin City. Mike Macdonald is a fantastic coach and the 12th Man is lucky to have him, but this does highlight one drawback of having a defensive minded head coach, as they need to hire great OC's which have higher likelihoods of being hired away to other teams.

Seattle will get one more game with Kubiak, and it's a big one. Hopefully with Kubiak's future settled, there will be one less distraction and the team can focus on the best possible offensive game plan over the New England Patriots.
