Seahawks make record-breaking $168.6 million Jaxon Smith-Njigba contract decision originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The 2025 season was a magical one for the Seattle Seahawks, as they beat the New England Patriots, winning Super Bowl 60 to earn their second Super Bowl title.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba was a huge reason why the Seahawks had such success last season, and now, the Seahawks need to extend him long-term.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, they did just that, agreeing to a massive $168.6 million contract extension over the next four years to make JSN the highest-paid WR in NFL history.
Seahawks extend JSN on record-breaking $168.6M deal
"ESPN Sources: Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl champion Jaxon Smith-Njigba reached agreement with the Seattle Seahawks on a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension that now makes him the highest-paid WR in NFL history," Schefter reports.
This new deal, which featured $120 million guaranteed, is averaging $42.15 million per-year, which beats Ja'Marr Chase's record of $40.25 million per-year.
Chase signed a $161 million four-year deal a few seasons ago, and now Smith-Njigba beats it by a little over seven million total.

JSN deserves this massive new deal, as he was an All-Pro and Pro Bowl WR, winning Offensive Player of the Year this past season in a breakout year for the ages.
He caught 119 passes for 1,7932 yards and 10 touchdowns, more than double what he had in the first two years of his career in yards, and double what he had through two seasons in touchdowns.
This won't be the only deal the Seahawks have to work out, as the attention now shifts to superstar cornerback Devon Witherspoon.
But, as seen with this massive JSN contract, the Seahawks are more than willing to spend on their players when they're deserving of big new deals.
