The Seattle Seahawks have locked up wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba for the long haul.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Seahawks and JSN have agreed to a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension, which makes him the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.

"ESPN Sources: Offensive Player of the Year and Super-Bowl champion Jaxon Smith-Njigba reached agreement with the Seattle Seahawks on a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension that now makes him the highest-paid WR in NFL history," Schefter reported.

"The deal averages $42.15 million per year, and includes over $120 million guaranteed, both setting records for any wide receiver," Schefter added.

Why Smith-Njigba deserved it​

The Seahawks wideout has gotten better and better each season in the NFL and he cemented himself as an elite wideout in 2025.

Smith-Njigba tallied a league-high 1,793 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns last year and went on to notch Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro selections, as well as the AP Offensive Player of the Year award.

He was a hugely important piece to the Seahawks' Super Bowl offense and now will continue to be for many years to come.

What was the previous WR contract record?​

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase previously had the high-water marks in terms of annual aveage ($40.25 million) and total value ($161 million), according to Over The Cap.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson held the record for guaranteed money at $110 million.

Smith-Njigba passes Chase by nearly $2 million in annual average and over $7 million in total value, and he blows by Jefferson's guaranteed money total by a whopping $10 million.
