Scottie Scheffler got a visit from another Dallas-area fan-favorite over the weekend at the British Open.
On Saturday evening, the British Open posted a video to social media of an encounter between Scheffler and Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic. In the Instagram video, Doncic is seen admiring Scheffler's golf swing as the Highland Park product warms up for a round at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England.
"His swing is super nice," Doncic said of Scheffler. "That might be the nicest swing. But yeah, he's my favorite player."
Doncic was also seen interacting with fans and spectators around the course. The former Dallas Mavericks standout said he got a chance to play at Hillside Golf Club on his trip to England. He said the Hillside course was "too difficult" for him, but he's getting better at the sport.
The video ends with Doncic and Scheffler exchanging pleasantries. Doncic told Scheffler he has spent part of his offseason golfing. Scheffler responded by saying he heard Doncic caught the golf bug.
Scheffler is a well-known fan of the Dallas area's professional sports teams. He has shown in the past that his dedication to the Mavericks is unwavering, even after the stunning Doncic trade to Los Angeles.
Scheffler is looking to become a repeat winner of the British Open. He'll need a strong performance to climb the leaderboard Sunday, as he's currently tied for 11th place at 4-under.
