EXETER - Lexi Paterna continued her dominant junior season as the Exeter High School girls track team competed in a 10-team meet at Phillips Exeter Academy.

Paterna established a new Exeter school record in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 36.66 seconds. Paterna's time, according to Exeter coach Laura Smith, is currently the fastest 1,500-meter time in girls track in the United States.

Paterna broke Shannon Murdock's record time of 4:36.79 set in 2014.

Exeter scored 140 points and won the meet, while Nashua North (48), Manchester Memorial (37), Manchester Central (35) and Belmont (28) rounded out the top five, respectively.

The Exeter 4x800-meter relay team, consisting of Eli Cross, Izzy Bremer, Bri Paterna and Lexi Paterna, placed first in 9:30.99. According to Smith, this time is the third current fastest time in the United States.

The 4x400 relay team, consisting of Martelle McBride, Dani Caron, Bremer and Madie Poteet, placed first in 4:12.34, and the 4x200 team, comprised of Avery Carrigan, Grace McIlroy, Isabelle Ernst, and Riley Benevides, placed second in 1:52.99.

Exeter's Sydney MacVicar (55 hurdles, 9.54) and Caron (600, 1:42.72) won their respective events. Other top-three finishes for Exeter came from McBride (long jump, second, 16 feet, 7.25 inches), Lucille Beam (shot put, second, 34-01), Bri Paterna (1,000, second, 3:09.74), Rowan DeCrew (long jump, third, 14-10.75), Autumn Fabiano (shot put, third, 30-11.75), Poteet (1,000, third, 3:10.07) and Cross (600, third, 1:49.03).

In the boys meet, Exeter's Logan Poteet won the 1,500 (4:20.48) and Wally Dangora was third in the 600 (1:28.38). Exeter's 4x400 relay team, consisting of Mason Fowler, Max Taormina, Colby Orleans, and Dangora, placed third in 3:54.55.

Portsmouth teams compete at Maine invite

GORHAM, Maine - Portsmouth's quartet of Will Hart, Luke Boynton,Sebastian Altamar and Nick Beidleman placed first in the boys 4x800-meter relay in a time of 8 minutes, 41.82 seconds at the University of Southern Maine New Year Invitational.

Hart also placed second in the 400 (51.82).

In the girls competition, the foursome of Alexa Baryiames, Kelsey Campbell, Georgia Parrott, and Maddy Houghton placed second in the 4x800-meter relay in a time of 10:31.21.

Portsmouth's Carolyn Milks placed sixth in the 55-meter dash in 7.59.

SALEM - Sean Haugh scored for Exeter in its Division I loss at the Icenter. Exeter's Trent Fujitani and Ethan Tremblay combined for 17 saves.

Spaulding 4

Lebanon 1


WEST LEBANON - Tyler Jean scored two goals and Cole Enman and Drew Tremblay each had one as Spaulding improved to 5-0 with this Division II win at Campion Arena.

Colton Niven and Garrett Truax both had two assists for the Red Raiders, while Parker Wheeler, Riley Kondroski, Ben Vaillancourt, Brayden Comeau all had one.

Spaulding goalie Collin McIntyre had 15 saves.

Winnacunnet 4

SALEM - Avery Young had two goals and Cam Frenette and Brock Emery both had one for Winnacunnet in its Division II win at the Icenter.

Emery also had two assists for the Warriors, while Young, Joey Roy and Colby Swazey all had one. Winnacunnet goalie Logan Muirhead had 21 saves.

Goffstown 4

Oyster River 3, OT


MANCHESTER - Cameron Wheeler, Nico Bellabona and Domenic DeRosa each scored a goal for Oyster River in its Division II overtime loss at Sullivan Arena.

Amos Winans had an assist for the Bobcats, and goalie Harrison Klein had 20 saves.
