LeBron James is coming to the Philadelphia 76ers, and everyone in the area — including Saquon Barkley — is excited about the move that shocked the sports world.
News broke on Friday afternoon that James, arguably the greatest basketball player of all-time, will sign with the 76ers on a two-year deal worth $8 million.
James, 41, joins Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe and recently-acquired Jaylen Brown to form perhaps the best lineup in the NBA.

Among those caught up in the excitement of James’ decision? Barkley, the Eagles’ superstar running back who welcomed James to Philadelphia on Friday afternoon.
“Welcome to the city!” Barkley wrote on social media. “Let me know when you tryna tee it up.”
Barkley is an avid golfer, and James has just recently gotten into it. Surely, they’ll be playing together in the near future.
Barkley was actually asked for his pitch to LeBron to join him in Philly a couple of weeks ago.
“I think it is one of the greatest sports towns in the world,” Barkley told NBC Sports Philadelphia. “... If you want to go out with a bang, I feel like a great spot would be in Philly, and bringing a championship to Philadelphia, you’d be remembered forever.”
Barkley knows what that feels like. The former Penn State star joined the Eagles from the New York Giants ahead of the 2024 season. In his first season in Philly, he rushed for 2,000 yards, was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year and won Super Bowl LIX.
We’ll see if James can help deliver the 76ers their first NBA championship since 1983.
