Eagles’ Saquon Barkley shoots his shot at LeBron James with recruitment pitch appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Two seasons into his tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles, running back Saquon Barkley has become a beloved sports icon within the City of Brotherly Love. During his first season, Barkley’s 2,005-yard campaign helped lead the Eagles to their second Lombardi Trophy. Although 2025 wasn’t as successful, the former New York Giant looks to get Philadelphia back on track this fall. As the NFL season approaches, Barkley spoke with the local press. During the conversation, he also attempted to persuade NBA superstar LeBron James to join Philadelphia’s NBA franchise, the 76ers. ClutchPoints shared Barkley’s shot via X, formerly Twitter.
"If you want to go out with a bang, I feel like a great spot would be in Philly and bring a championship to Philadelphia. You'll be remembered forever."

“If you want to go out with a bang, I feel like a great spot would be in Philly and bring a championship to Philadelphia,” Barkley remarked. “You’ll be remembered forever.”
Barkley certainly brings up a good point. After spending the first six seasons of his career with the rival Giants, Barkley’s deal with the Eagles looks to be a steal so far. The 29-year-old’s pitch to James shouldn’t be discounted, either. The 76ers swung a trade with their Eastern Conference rivals, the Boston Celtics, for star wing Jaylen Brown. The new acquisition will team up with former MVP Joel Embiid and ascending guard Tyrese Maxey to try to lead the Sixers to their fourth title in franchise history.
If James decided to come to Philadelphia, one could argue that the 76ers would be Eastern Conference finals, or at least on the level of the reigning champion New York Knicks. It would be a major coup for not only the Sixers but for the city as well. Meanwhile, Barkley will look to help the Eagles win their second Lombardi Trophy in the last three seasons. If his pitch to convince James is successful, the immediate future of both franchises could look at least a bit brighter.
