It didn't take long for former Denver Broncos safety Tanner McCalister to land on his feet after his practice squad contract expired on Monday.
McCalister signed a reserve/future contract with the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday, according to the NFL's transaction wire. This will mark his second stint in KC.
McCalister (5-11, 191 pounds) signed with Denver's practice squad last month following stints with the New York Jets and Chiefs in 2025. Before that, he spent most of the 2024 season on the Broncos' practice squad. Denver allowed his practice squad contract to expire after the playoffs, making him a free agent.
The 26-year-old safety wrote on social media that his 2025 season featured injuries, uncertainty, rejection and doubt, but his faith "never wavered—I trusted God through it all."
"Multiple teams, a lot of lessons, and ultimately finished one game short of the Super Bowl in Denver (pain)," McCalister wrote on Twitter/X. "This season has given me so much Motivation!"
McCalister will officially join the Chiefs' 90-man offseason roster when the new league year begins in March. He'll be entering his fourth NFL season in 2026.
