Trent Sherfield is now a street free agent.

The New England Patriots allowed Sherfield's practice squad contract to expire on Tuesday, making him a free agent, eligible to sign ahead of the official start of the NFL's new league year in March.

Sherfield (6-1, 206 pounds) signed a two-year, $6 million contract with the Denver Broncos last year. He totaled three receptions for 21 yards and played 51% of the special teams snaps before being cut 10 games into the 2025 season. Sherfield later said the team's decision to cut him was shocking.

After a stint on the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad, Sherfield finished the season on New England's practice squad. He dressed for two games in Arizona after being cut by Denver but did not make any appearances for the Patriots. Set to turn 30 years old next week, Sherfield will nnow seek his eighth NFL team.
