Texas A&M guard Rylan Griffen didn't escape the Charles Bediako conversation as the former Alabama basketball player prepared for his return to Tuscaloosa.

Given he and Bediako were teammates for one season at Alabama, Griffen was asked if he ever thought that he would be competing against the 23 year-old G League center in a college game.

Griffen didn't say yes or no and stated he "didn't know much about the situation." He doesn't have any ill opinions of Bediako, though.

"I'm happy for Chuck. He a good dude, and it's gonna be fun playing because he's a great rim protector," Griffen said.

"That's another guy we've got to go against, but at the end of the day, it's just going against another guy on their team, so happy for him," Griffen continued.

Alabama (14-7, 4-4) is 1-2 in the three games that Bediako has participated in since being granted a temporary restraining order on Wednesday, Jan. 21. He is averaging 11 points and about five rebounds per game, only having missed two shots from the free-throw line of 13 thus far.

"Didn't necessarily know how this one was going to pan out, but he's playing, and I'm very happy for him so it'll be fun to see him again," Griffen said.

Griffen also discussed the "great relationship" that he and Bediako had during their brief time together at Alabama. When Bediako declared for the 2023 NBA Draft, Griffen had just completed his freshman season.

"Chuck, he real funny. He real nice. Some people were talking about him on the Internet or whatever, and they don't really know him," Griffen said. "He's a good dude. I don't think he deserves to be talked about the way they talking about him because he's a great guy. He don't try to hurt anybody."

Texas A&M could be the last game of Bediako's second stint with the Crimson Tide. Whether he will continue to be able to play will be determined in his next injunction hearing, which is currently set for Friday, Feb. 6, but could be moved after a postponement request by Bediako's attorneys.

Alabama and Texas A&M play at 6 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Feb. 4 on SEC Network.
