Charles Bediako is continuing his battle to restore his eligibility and compete with Alabama basketball.
On Monday, Feb. 23, The Tuscaloosa News obtained court documents in which Bediako is appealing the denial that resulted from his initial injunction hearing. He is also asking for injunctive relief as his appeal is reviewed by the Alabama Supreme Court.
Judge Daniel Pruet of the Tuscaloosa Circuit Court denied Bediako on Feb. 9. Before the latest motion from Bediako's attorneys − who argued that their client's appeal would be "moot" if not granted temporary relief to resume competition with the Crimson Tide − the case had been stagnant.

"The University of Alabama’s regular season ends on March 7, the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament takes place from March 11 – 15, and the NCAA Tournament will be held from March 17 through April 6. Plaintiff’s appeal is unlikely to resolve before the season concludes. Without interim injunctive relief, the whole purpose for Plaintiff’s appeal — the ability to play basketball for the University of Alabama for the remainder of play in 2026 — will be null," the document read.
Bediako first filed a lawsuit against the NCAA on Tuesday, Jan. 20. He proceeded to play in five games with Alabama under a temporary restraining order.
Prior to spending three years in the G League after going unselected in the 2023 NBA Draft, Bediako was a student-athlete with the Crimson Tide for two seasons.
The NCAA has maintained that it will not punish Alabama in NCAA Tournament selection and seeding, as reflected by orders given in court documents.
