I think I read once that he had an almost four octave range. That's probably double the range of most people. Still, the thing that always struck me was how much emotion he could convey in the notes along with his great writing talent.

Absolutely. Chris gave you the feels when he sang. Brilliant singer and always a big fan.

I'm not a pearl jam guy, Alice in chains was ok but a little too much of a depressed heroin junkie feel to me. Nirvana I liked in the 90s but it tapered off a lot, now I only listen to their unplugged album.

From what I've heard it was from choking from a sex act similar to David Carradine.

Thats a strong possibility.

Im maintaining that it wasnt on purpose. If it were accidental asphyxiation, that would support that.

Death by hanging, yet found on the floor.

The sexual asphyxiation thing is gaining momentum.

I'll have to find the report I read that speculated that is how he died. I read several this morning. He was one of my favorite artists. I especially loved his solo acoustic remakes.

Yep.

His wife said he had not been depressed or suicidal at all and from all accounts he'd just had a great concert in Detroit (I have friends that were there).

The debate whether he was trying to kill himself or thrill himself may go on forever without more facts.

But if it was just thrill himself, why would his wife know to ask a friend to check on him? That's the part that seems weird. As late as it was, you'd think she'd just figure he went to bed.

I dunno. No matter what the reason, I'm sad & this SUCKS.

Chris Cornell's widow describes how he woke her up just before he killed himself by triggering home security system and ranting into the phone, saying she knew something was wrong

The wife of late singer Chris Cornell is opening up about her final conversation with the Soundgarden frontman in a heartbreaking new interview.

Vicky Cornell told People that just minutes before her husband was found dead inside the bathroom of his Detroit hotel, he woke her up by triggering the lights in their New York townhouse with his phone.

She then called him to find out what was happening, and said that she did not recognize the man on the other end of the phone.

'He was on a rant,' said Vicky.

'I said, "You need to tell me what you took," and he just got mean. That wasn’t my Chris.'
