The best Section 4 indoor track & field athletes gathered at Cornell University's Barton Hall this past weekend, with numerous high school athletes adding to their first-place collections. See who took the top spots in the 2026 Section 4 Class Championships:
Boys
Candor senior Logan Aman captured gold in the boys' 55-meter dash with a final time of 6.54 seconds, while senior Horseheads athlete Patrick Laney finished in the same heat, with a time of 6.60 seconds.
Girls
Dejah Taylor (Sidney Track) captured first place in the girls’ 55-meter dash with a time of 7.35 seconds, while Mattisen Johnston (Corning) finished in the same heat at 7.41 seconds. Cassidy Howard (Oneonta) secured third place, crossing the line in 7.46 seconds.
Boys
Owego Free Academy senior Gavin Heath won the boys' 300-meter dash with a final time of 35.99 seconds. Keegan Waltz from Oxford Academy placed second at 36.58 seconds, while Corning's Wyatt McDonald received third place with a time 36.67 seconds.
Girls
Dejah Taylor (Sidney Track) captured another first-place win with a time of 40.80 seconds in the girls' 300-meter dash, while Cassidy Howard (Oneonta) secured second place, crossing the line in 42.26 seconds. Corning's star athlete, Cella McLaughlin, followed shortly after with a time of 42.57 seconds.

Boys
Groton senior, Ross Bush, secured the 600-meter title with a time of 1:23:86. Maine-Endwell's Wyatt Richardson placed second with a time of 1:26:43, while Johnson City athlete, Connor Smith, lost out on second place by just a hair, finishing third at 1:26.69.
Girls
Eva DiNunzio-Welch (Binghamton) won the girls’ 600-meter run in 1:40.07, followed by Vestal athlete Bailey Parsons in second place with a time of 1:41.43. Fellow teammate Natalie Tripp secured third place, finishing in 1:42.45.
Boys
Nicholas Kowel, a senior from Horseheads, earned the top spot in the boys' 1000-meter run with a time of 2:32.69, just missing Ithaca's Zoltan Nadasdy, who secured second place with a time of 2:34:07.
Placing third and fourth were Corning's Sebastian Boutwell and Nicholas Ferratella, who finished with times of 2:34.35 and 2:34.51, respectively.
Girls
Dryden athlete Reagan Burnham claimed first place in the girls’ 1000-meter run with a time of 3:10.58, while Hope Syzmaniak (Binghamton) placed second in 3:15.44. Kayla Fletcher followed, completing the run at 3:16.33.
Boys
Lansing athlete Trent Thibault emerged victorious in the boys' 1600-meter run with a time of 4:30.11. Gordon Smith (Oxford Academy) finished second at 4:32.79, while senior Corning athlete Sebastian Boutwell took third place with a time of 4:38.35.

Girls
Ithaca athlete Tsadia Bercuvitz captured first place in the girls’ 1500-meter run, finishing in 4:34.70. Corning athlete Olivia Martinec placed second in 5:02.75, while Mackenzie Baker (Horseheads) earned third place with a time of 5:04.70.
Boys
Corning's Christopher Lawson came out on top in the 3200-meter run, with a winning time of 9:30.80, followed by Corning teammate Bryce Hammond, who received second-place honors with a time of 9:32.68. Following was Trent Thibault (Lansing) with a time of 10:00.78.
Girls
Corning's Olivia Martinec secured the championship in the girls’ 3000-meter run, crossing the line in 10:41.99. Ithaca athlete Avery Whittaker earned second place in 10:48.23, while Corning's Kateland Dininny placed third overall with a time of 11:13.24.
Boys
Oneonta athlete Beckett Holmes claimed first place in the boys' 55-meter hurdles event with a time of 7.93 seconds. Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton athlete Harpo Hardt placed second at 7.98 seconds, while Union Springs athlete Brayden Taylor followed shortly after with a time of 8.07 seconds.
Girls
Corning's Cella McLaughlin placed first in the girls’ 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.94 seconds. Chenango Valley's Delaney Walters finished shortly after with a time of 9.03 seconds. Candor's Lindsey Morse placed with a time of 9.08 seconds, while Chenango Valley athlete Molly Walters finished at 9.11 seconds.
Boys
The Horseheads boys relay team captured first place in the 4x200-meter relay, with a final time of 1:34.27, followed by Vestal, who finished second with a time of 1:39.77. The Lansing boys relay team crossed the line not even a second later at 1:39.86, securing third.
Girls
The Sidney Track relay team captured first place in the girls’ 4x200-meter relay, recording a winning time of 1:51.74. Whitney Point finished second at 1:52.39, while Oneonta secured third place in 1:52.97.
Boys
Corning received first-place honors in the boys' 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:31.85. Vestal crossed the line second, with a time of 3:37.07, while Ithaca finished third shortly after with a time of 3:37.28.
Girls
Corning earned first place in the girls’ 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:13.86. Vestal placed second in 4:18.78, while Binghamton finished third in 4:28.32.

Boys
Horseheads earned first place in the boys' 4x800-meter relay, with a time of 8:50.90. Walton-Downsville followed closely, earning second place with a time of 8:55.82. Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton earned third with a finishing time of 8:57.75.
Girls
Ithaca claimed the title in the girls’ 4x800-meter relay, finishing in 10:07.36. Corning earned second place in 10:31.08, while Unadilla Valley completed the podium in third place with a time of 10:48.60.
Boys
Binghamton athlete Milo Wilson won the boys' high jump, clearing 6 feet, 10 inches. Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton athlete Isaiah Hampton placed second with a high jump of 6 feet, 2 inches, while Oneonta athlete Beckett Holmes secured third place with a record of 6 feet.
Girls
Both Chenango Valley athletes, Delaney Walters and Molly Walters, tied for first place, clearing 5 feet, 3 inches, while Maine-Endwell athlete Desianna Dingle followed, reaching a height of 5 feet, 1 inch.

Boys
Isaiah Hampton (Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton) won first place in the boys' long jump event with a distance of 22 feet, 3 inches. Beckett Holmes (Oneonta) placed second at 22 feet, while Milo Wilson (Binghamton) followed at third, with a jump of 21 feet, 4 inches.
Girls
Cella McLaughlin (Corning) captured first place in the girls’ long jump with a leap of 19 feet. Appalonia Bushaw (Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton) followed with a finish of 17 feet, 5 inches, Mattiden Johnston (Corning) earned third place with a jump of 16 feet, 5 inches.
Boys
Darren Rose (Oneonta) secured the first-place spot with a distance of 46 feet, 1 inch in the boys' triple jump. Harpo Hardt (Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton) finished shortly after with a distance of 41 feet, 11 inches. Wyatt Richardson (Maine-Endwell) finished third with a distance of 41 feet, 9 inches.
Girls
Amanda McEwen (Corning) earned the championship in the girls’ triple jump with a distance of 34 feet. Keiyra Morton (Oneonta) finished behind McEwen with a mark of 33 feet, 11 inches, while Giada Horan (Union Endicott) finished third after jumping 32 feet, 11 inches.

Gavinn Albrecht (Tioga) secured first place in the boys' pole vault event with a height of 14 feet, 6 inches. Michael Akulis (Johnson City) earned second place, clearing 14 feet, 6 inches, while Maxwell Jennings (Corning), placed third with a height of 13 feet, 6 inches.
Girls
Reese Conway (Corning) secured first place in the boys' pole vault event with a height of 11 feet, 6 inches. Maren Golden (Ithaca) earned second place, clearing 9 feet, 6 inches, while Trumansburg athlete, Evey Pennock, placed third with a height of 9 feet.
Boys
Michael Morrissey (Sidney Track) won the boys' shot put event with a throw of 52 feet, 7 inches. Unatego athlete Derek Jordan followed with a throw of 46 feet, 10 inches, placing second, while Union Endicott athlete Chris Feliciano earned third with a mark of 45 feet, 7 inches.
Girls
Grace Walley (Walton-Downsville) won the girls’ shot put with a throw of 42 feet. Johnson City athlete Gianna Harrington placed second at 31 feet, 11.25 inches, while Sidney Track athlete Lennon Swain secured third place with a mark of 31 feet, 11 inches.
Boys
Norwich's Kaden Downey secured first place in the boys' weight throw finals with a mark of 64 feet, 7 inches. Ithaca athlete Hayden Cornell finished second with a mark of 63 feet, while Corning's Freddie Collins received third with a throw to the 60-foot, 4-inch mark.
Girls
Oneonta's Becky Foko secured first place in the girls' weight throw finals with a mark of 47 feet, 8.5 inches. Corning athlete Samantha Harvey finished second with a mark of 46 feet, 8.75 inches, while Maine Endwell's Maddie VanPatten received third with a throw to the 40-foot, 5-inch mark.

Boys

Cella McLaughlin (Corning) captured first place in the girls’ long jump with a leap of 19 feet. Appalonia Bushaw (Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton) followed with a finish of 17 feet, 5 inches, Mattiden Johnston (Corning) earned third place with a jump of 16 feet, 5 inches.
