Konrad Laimer’s negotiations with Bayern Munich over a new contract has taken many months. Reports over some big differences in the salary expectation between Bayern and the Austrian’s management date back to near the start of 2026. Following those differences, discussions were shelved and, for a long time, there was no resolution. The Bavarians have had to conceded a lot of ground in recent negotiations with star players but held their ground in negotiations with Laimer, who seemed to demand up to €15 million per year.

But now reports emerge that both parties have reached a breakthrough in negotiations to keep the club’s #27 in Munich past 2027. According to Tz reporter Philipp Kessler (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), the player’s new salary will see him earn up to 3 million more per year:

Konrad Laimer currently earns around €9m gross per year at FC Bayern. With the new deal, his salary could rise up to €12m/year. Following months of negotiations, an agreement is now close.

Top level footballers lead a blessed life, eh? It is important to note that the report specifies the Austrian will earn up to 12 million per year. That should be the maximum amount he can earn in a year. It would represent a deserved salary raise after his rise in importance in the 2025/26 season, but also ensures the Bavarians do not exceed their wage budget.

There is every chance the official announcement will take time if this report is to be believed, given Laimer is currently captaining Austria at the World Cup. But, if this report is correct, expect it to be official by mid-July, at the latest.
