The Eagles are working hard to re-sign edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, and there's growing optimism that a deal could be completed before free agency, Ian Rapoport and The Insiders reported on Sunday. The Eagles remain active in the pass-rush market and are believed to be attempting to re-sign Jaelan Phillips to a deal worth more than $20 million per year, though the edge rusher is expected to draw strong interest in free agency. Philadelphia has 18 unrestricted free agents, led by Phillip, who could become one of the highest-paid pass rushers in the NFL with a deal that potentially could hit $20 million per season.
The Eagles would like to prevent Phillips from hitting the open market and have been taking steps to ensure a long-term commitment.
The Eagles traded a 2026 third-round pick to acquire Phillips, who came to Philadelphia on the final year of his contract. The former Dolphins first-round pick finished with 28 tackles and two sacks in 8 games and called his trade to the Birds one of the best moments of his life. Phillips didn't put up all-world sack numbers, but he put pressure on the quarterback, and his 73 were the 9th-best in the NFL according to PFF.Phillips played 819 snaps at edge rusher in 2025, while posting a 77.1 pass rush grade, 20th best in the NFL.
Philadelphia will take steps to ensure an upgrade at the edge-rusher position, and keeping Phillips could make things murky regarding signing Jalen Carter and Moro Ojomo to long-term deals.
