Has a new potential suitor emerged for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown? According to recent reporting from Stein Line contributor Jake Fischer, the Denver Nuggets have kicked the proverbial tires on whether they might be able to find a way to get into the mix for the Georgia native in the wake of Boston's failed attempt to trade for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Per the Stein Line reporter, "the Nuggets have at least internally discussed whether they have the asset wherewithal to join the trade chase for Boston's Jaylen Brown, but the Nuggets have yet to emerge as a bonafide landing spot for the Celtics' MVP candidate."
A quick glance at the situation for the Nuggets in terms of movable assets that could be leveraged in a deal for Brown suggests a lot of other things would need to happen first.
Especially if recent reports suggesting Boston President of Basketball Operations President of Basketball Operations and company are looking for a return in the neighborhood of four first round draft picks in any deal for the Cal alum are accurate.
With only their own 2031 pick available to be dealt outright plus swaps on their 2026, 2028, 2030, and 2032 picks, it seems all but certain Denver would need to move one of Jamal Murray or Aaron Gordon for multiple first round picks to even get into the mix seriously -- with the latter option in particular a stretch given recent health.
