The Cincinnati Reds have agreed to a Major League contract with a veteran starting pitcher.

Charlie Goldsmith of FOX 19 reports that the NL Central club has signed right-hander Chris Paddack.

Paddack, 30, was released by the Miami Marlins after posting a 7.63 ERA with six home runs allowed in seven appearances (six starts).

Those are less than ideal numbers for Paddack, who began his MLB career as a highly touted prospect back in 2019 with the San Diego Padres.

Since that time, he's also spent time as a back-end starter and swingman with the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers.

So far this season, hitters are batting .361 against Paddack's four-seam fastball, a pitch he's throwing 32% of the time.

The Reds are without flamethrower Hunter Greene and could also opt to use Paddack in the bullpen for the time being. He's a strike thrower with over 600 innings of Major League experience.
