Cayden Wallace scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the ninth inning as the Rochester Red Wings rallied for a 6-5 walk-off win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Saturday at ESL Ballpark.
Jacksonville took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Connor Norby. The Red Wings were held without a run in the first three innings before breaking through in the fourth. Rochester’s comeback started in the seventh when Ortiz hit a ground-rule double down the left-field line off Jack Ralston to score Wallace and Maxwell Romero Jr. and tie the game at 5-5.
The decisive rally came in the ninth against White. Wallace led off with a walk, moved to second on Romero’s sacrifice bunt and took third on Phillip Glasser’s groundout. With two outs, Christian Franklin walked and advanced to second on defensive indifference. White intentionally walked Ortiz to load the bases before uncorking a wild pitch to Brady House that allowed Wallace to score the winning run.
Ortiz finished 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two walks, while Lipscomb drove in three and Pinckney added two hits and a run.
