Everything has gone wrong for the Boston Red Sox this season. On top of their struggles at home and in the win column in general, they seem to be losing their top-end talent to injury almost every week.

First it was Garrett Crochet, then it was Roman Anthony, then it was Trevor Story and most recently it was the team's most highly touted relief pitcher, Garrett Whitlock, being moved to the injured list.

Whitlock went on the IL in late May after slipping on wet infield grass and hyperextending his knee.

He made a rehab outing on Saturday in Worcester. He threw 21 pitches, walked a couple of batters, allowed a hit and struck out one batter on his way to posting a scoreless inning in Triple-A.

This was the first step towards Whitlock rejoining the Red Sox. The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham reported on Monday that he is expected to be elevated to Boston on Tuesday.

The plan is for Garrett Whitlock to rejoin the Red Sox roster tomorrow, according to @PeteAbe.

In a season that's seen players moved to the IL and live there for a while, it's nice to see a quick recovery for Whitlock.

Whitlock is 3-0 on the season with a 3.20 ERA in 20 appearances.
