Yep. Remember the third and long against the Falcons to start our SB run? Common wisdom was to run the ball. Whis dialed up a pass to Spach, I think his name was. First down, game over, advanced in the playoffs.Bucky you hit the nail on the head.
When all you need is a first down to win the game and you are more worried about how many time outs the other team has you are setting yourself up to lose.
That is a valid questionHow is it going to make him read a defense and process faster so he doesn't miss easy passes to open guys?
Cards are like the landlady in George Thorogood’s one bourbon, one scotch one beer song. Long as they get their money next Friday!History tells us death spiral. Especially after possibly the most demoralizing loss in team history. To be honest I am not sure they are that worried about it.
Gannon also talked after the game about having a greater sense of urgency. Highlighted coaches, Budda, Murray, everyone.Ah, solid point Oaken.
The key word is talked. They should enter the season with a sense of urgency. Two losses in a row in the final seconds should create a sense of urgency. All talk Gannon.Gannon also talked after the game about having a greater sense of urgency. Highlighted coaches, Budda, Murray, everyone.
It's a press conference, what else do you want him to do? I can't say that he will be able to get his players to share his feeling but he seems to understand what NFL stands for (or at least it is sinking in).The key word is talked. I would ask why you continually play to lose. You aren’t learning a damn thing. Holding players accountable is part of the job. Backing a player no matter what isn’t the right thing to do in every case. It's a press conference, what else do you want him to do? They do. Are the Jaguars really a loaded roster? No. It’s coaching.Do they, though?
He is a defensive coach who is trusting his defense. They are a team who came into the season thinking they were cruising to the playoffs. The Cardinals aren't the first team who got ahead of themselves and started thinking more about the future than the present. You also have to remember that none of these players or staff have 20+ years of organizational ineptitude to impact their thinking. This is the new coach/GM learning curve. All he can do is take the loss on the chin and try to get the team to fight back.I would ask why you continually play to lose. You aren’t learning a damn thing. Going 4-7 to finish the season would be a feat at this point imo.I think neither will happen.
Unfortunately…they will play an inspiring game against Indy (but probably not enough to win) and all will be fine.
6-11 season. Gannon gets another chance, Petzing also.
Welcome to miserable mediocrity!
Though Kyler is part of the problem and I want him gone, there are a myriad of ways they can turn this ship. Call more downfield designed plays with fewer checkdown options, don’t run your third string rb 20+ times, don’t move away from involving MHJ and McBride in the offense as the game progresses, don’t three downs with 3 minutes on the clock, don’t only rush four at times in defense. How do you galvanize a team with a rotten, broken QB?
There we're a lot of issues on Sunday but in the 2 games before the defense played well, receivers were getting open and too many yards were left on the field.
How is "trying harder" going to fix that? How is effort going to ship Kyler's YPA from 6 to 7.5? How is it going to make him read a defense and process faster so he doesn't miss easy passes to open guys?
He’s already talked and walked the “won’t change” philosophy. If you only do so out of desperation you’re too stubborn/stupid to be an effective head coach at the nfl level . . . at this juncture. And I add that part purposefully. I think many first time head coaches fail because they just don’t learn the necessary lessons for success until they’re canned. Call it the hubris of rising to that level for some. The key word is talked. They should enter the season with a sense of urgency. 100% this.Playing scared football is losing football!!! That’s JG & BOTH of his coordinators. Non of them are very aggressive, they are passive! They react instead of attack! Coaches matters, scheme matters.
And thus they are dead men walking.
