The Baltimore Ravens did not simply add two wide receivers in the 2026 NFL draft. They added a specific type of pass catcher for Lamar Jackson and a passing game looking for more answers in contested situations.

By selecting Ja’Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt, Baltimore secured two receivers who entered the league with some of the most physical profiles in the draft class. According to Jonas Shaffer, Lane and Sarratt posted the highest share of contested targets among wide receivers in the class, highlighting a clear emphasis on ball skills, body control, and the ability to finish plays when coverage is tight. After watching DeAndre Hopkins make highlight-reel catches during his lone season in Baltimore, the Ravens doubled down on that type of catch-point toughness.

Both rookies thrive when the ball is in the air and defenders are close. That trait matters in the NFL, where separation windows shrink, third-down throws become more difficult, and red-zone passing requires receivers who can win without perfect space. Jackson’s rare rushing ability already stresses defenses, but Lane and Sarratt give him two young targets who can make plays even when the coverage forces a tight-window throw.

Sarratt arrives as the more polished possession target. He was productive and reliable at Indiana, finishing his 2025 season with 65 receptions for 830 yards and 15 touchdowns while helping power the national champion Hoosiers. His profile fits as a chain-moving option who can work inside, attack intermediate windows, and become valuable on third down, where strong hands and route awareness can quickly build quarterback trust.

Lane brings a different answer. The former USC standout finished his three-year college career with 99 receptions for 1,363 yards and 18 touchdowns, including 49 catches for 745 yards and four scores in 11 games last season. His size and contested-catch ability give Baltimore a potential red-zone weapon who can win on fades, back-shoulder throws, and boundary targets when defenses collapse toward Mark Andrews or load up to stop Derrick Henry.

For Baltimore, the additions reflect a broader offensive vision under Declan Doyle. The Ravens still need speed, spacing, and explosive plays from Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, but Lane and Sarratt bring physicality and reliability at the catch point. If they handle the rookie learning curve, both could give Jackson the kind of young, tough targets who help turn tight windows into big plays.
