The Las Vegas Raiders need to upgrade their pass rush in free agency. That's regardless of what happens with Maxx Crosby. One potential name to monitor is pending free agent Boye Mafe, who played for the Seattle Seahawks last season.
New Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak is expected to target former Seahawks players in free agency. General manager John Spytek is equipped with more than $86 million in free agency. That's plenty of financial flexibility to make a play for Mafe. New defensive coordinator Rob Leonard requires more pass rushers to properly install his defense.
Mafe recorded a career-low two sacks in 2025. That could make the former Minnesota Golden Gopher a bargain signing in free agency. Mafe was significantly more impactful throughout the early portion of his rookie contract, accumulating 15 sacks in 2023-24.
Mafe registered 44 pressures. His pass-rush-win-rate of 11.3% (Pro Football Focus) indicates he was applying consistent pressure on quarterbacks, but wasn't finishing plays with sacks. The Raiders essentially don't even have that player under contract right now, given Malcolm Koonce is a free agent, and Crosby's name continues to surface in trade talks.
Mafe is another quality free agent Kubiak is familiar with. The Raiders need pass rushers. Mafe should be targeted by Spytek in free agency.
