Los Angeles (8-8) defeated New York (11-6), 98-97, on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. Nneka Ogwumike made a game-winning three-point shot to win the game for the Sparks in the fourth quarter.
She totaled 24 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Former Lady Vol Rae Burrell played 26 minutes for Los Angeles and scored 19 points. She converted 5-of-10 field goal attempts, 2-of-4 three-point attempts and 7-of-7 three-point attempts. Burrell also totaled four assists and three rebounds.
The Sparks will next play Thursday at Toronto. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. EDT.
Burrell played at Tennessee from 2018-22. She appeared in 110 games, including 47 starts, and averaged 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 22.6 minutes per contest. At Tennessee, Burrell was named to the 2021-22 USA TODAY Preseason All-America Third Team.
She was selected by Los Angeles in the first round of the 2022 WNBA draft (No. 9 overall).
