Los Angeles (6-6) defeated Seattle (3-11), 88-83, on Wednesday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. Two former Lady Vols played in the WNBA Commissioner's Cup game.
Rae Burrell started for the Sparks and played 27 minutes. She scored four points and converted 1-of-4 field goal attempts, 1-of-3 three-point attempts and 1-of-2 free throw attempts. Burrell also recorded two rebounds, one assist and two blocks.
Jordan Horston started for the Storm and played 26 minutes. She scored 11 points and converted 5-of-10 field goal attempts and 1-of-4 three-point attempts. Horston four rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.
Horston played at Tennessee from 2019-23. She was a two-time All-SEC First-team selection and a two-time Associated Press and WBCA All-America honorable mention.
Horston appeared in 114 games, including 91 starts, for the Lady Vols, recording 1,145 points, 731 rebounds, 455 assists, 109 blocks and 163 steals.
She was named to the 2023 WNBA All-Rookie Team and was the No. 9 overall selection in the 2023 WNBA draft. Horston went to Tennessee from Columbus Africentric Early College High School in Columbus, Ohio.
Burrell played at Tennessee from 2018-22. She appeared in 110 games, including 47 starts, and averaged 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 22.6 minutes per contest. At Tennessee, Burrell was named to the 2021-22 USA TODAY Preseason All-America Third Team.
She was selected by Los Angeles in the first round of the 2022 WNBA draft (No. 9 overall).
