Los Angeles (2-3) defeated Phoenix (2-4), 97-88, on Thursday at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Former Lady Vol Rae Burrell played 22 minutes for the Sparks. She scored 12 points and converted 4-of-9 field goal attempts, 2-of-5 three-point attempts and 2-of-2 free throw attempts. Burrell also recorded two assists and one rebound.

Dearica Hamby led all scorers with 27 points for Los Angeles, while Kelsey Plum scored 16 points and Cameron Brink totaled 12 points for the Sparks.

Los Angeles' largest lead in the contest was 21 points.

Burrell played at Tennessee from 2018-22. She appeared in 110 games, including 47 starts, and averaged 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 22.6 minutes per contest. At Tennessee, Burrell was named to the 2021-22 USA TODAY Preseason All-America Third Team.

She was selected by Los Angeles in the first round of the 2022 WNBA draft (No. 9 overall).
