Leon Russell died quietly in his sleep this morning, he was 74. This man was involved in the careers of so many through the years. I first learned of him when I was an early teen listening to Gary Lewis and the Playboys but he produced, wrote, played and sang with and for some of the greatest names in popular music of the 60's through his recent collaboration with Elton John. Browsing his Wiki page just now I was surprised to discover that he went to High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and that Anita Bryant was in the class prior to him, David Gates (Bread) was in his class and Elvin Bishop was a couple of years behind them. That's incredible. Anyway, RIP Leon, thanks for some great music.
