Johnny Manziel should become a FA next month and he's still pretty young.

We need to get our QB of the future now and it is the best situation now. We have the coaches and the starter which are ideal for a young QB to develop under. I'm seeing the mock drafts people are showing. I realize the need for a pass rusher to take the next step but without a QB for the coming years, we are going to have to start in the basement again if we do not address this now... my first pick in the draft would be a QB, the process of ensuring our future starts now at the position!

I don't think you can just say we're taking a QB in the first round, that's how you get in trouble. You address your needs in free agency and then you take the best player on your board regardless of position. If it's a QB great if it's a center well that's great too.

EDIT to say:

Unless there is an Andrew Luck type player and you mortgage the future to move up to get him.

What do you think of NC State's Jacoby Brissett as a QB BA can develop over the next couple of years? Keim's connection to NC State could put him on the radar.

I just watched a full highlights of him against FSU
Looks like a poor version of cam newton
FSU put a lot of pressure on him, he has Quick feet to avoid pressure
Probably he didnt have a great receiving Corp, the result was the Constantly pressure from FSU defenders, but he show he can read the defense
What i dont like, he doesnt put too much velocity to the football on his throws(medium and long throws)

What about Oswieler? (Somebody had to say it.)

Ozzy is a FA and may be worth taking a serious look at.
I am pretty sure Denver will ask Manning to forego any talk of retirement until they can get Brock locked up fairly cheap.....

Not sure he would extend that courtesy at the expense of Brock being able to apply fair leverage. I think Brock is in an ideal position given the likelihood that Denver will use up the Tag on Miller.

I think BA&SK are going to look more closely at college production and, most especially, at leadership skills....which is why I would question whether they would draft a project again---maybe sign an underrated QB prospect as a project---but not spend a draft pick on one unless they see the production and leadership.

This is why it would not surprise me if they have a high opinion of Dak Prescott. Man---he sure put Mississippi State back on the map, which in itself was no small feat.

Tom Brady played for Michigan.

He was probably talking about Greg Brady, he was a third string QB at USC, he lost his scholarship following a domestic violence charge, something about breaking his sisters nose with a football iirc.

Every time I see this scene... I think of most NFL front offices thinking about their future QB situation lol

No. He's going to cost a desperate team $8-12 mil/year and still needs work on his mechanics. Plus, I'd imagine he wants to go somewhere he can play right away.

Denver most likely will lock Osweiler up before he becomes a free agent. They are going to have to pay him. And if they don't pay him another team will.

I like Chase Daniels. But I don't believe the Cardinals will be able to sign him. Some team is going to look at his preseason tapes and pay him.

It reverts back to the college game which isn't producing pro ready quarterbacks or offensive lineman.

The Cardinals are not in the position to spend a high draft choice on a quarterback. Too many more urgent needs in other positions.
