Yes, Homer pick. However, if you watched him last year, he was much improved from his OSU days. Great anticipation, toughness, leadership, strong arm, accurate. Not very mobile but played in a pro style system.

SU looked better than they have in years and he was the main reason why. Good developmental prospect that has potential to turn into a starter.

They only have 6 picks. I don't see them blowing one on another Clayton Tune like long shot in a weak QB class and Brissett signed for 2 years. Next year more likely.
I don’t see Monty sitting on 6 picks. I’m assuming he trades down and we pick up a couple extra picks. If you think Clayton Tune is on the same level as McCord then I’m guessing you haven’t seen McCord play (which would be understandable).

@Harry I’d be curious to know your thoughts and if you’ve heard anything about his prospects.
Thanks for asking. Sorry if this disappoints you. Most see his ceiling as a backup. He has some good points. While not a super athlete he’s reasonably mobile. He has a strong arm, but shows poor mechanics on deep throws. McCord is very aggressive. He doesn’t back off. He doesn’t panic and dump the ball too early. He sometimes uses progressions so he should be able to do that consistently. He’s a cerebral QB who reads defenses well.

On the negative side his release is slow and may be hard to speed up. When scrambling he has a tendency to throw late into the middle, i.e. overly aggressive. Struggles to lead receivers and generally has mediocre ball placement, especially on crossing routes. He has some issues that can usually be corrected liking telegraphing the primary receiver and throwing into multiple coverage.

In fairness I’ve talked with people who like him better and don’t agree with some of my points. He’s felt to be best suited to play with a pocket passing team, especially with an offense that uses heavy play action. I think he’d need a significant makeover. That’s tough to do with an aggressive QB. He was a great high school QB.

As a Syracuse native, I watch all Syracuse games & the kid was phenomenal last year. Let’s not forget that he was a 5 star recruit before going to OSU. And he was MHJ’s HS QB for 4 years.

Thanks for the in depth analysis! I’ve only watched him 1 year so can only judge on that. You do list a lot of positives that make me think he’s a better option than Tune. I’m rooting for him wherever he ends up.
