United States President Donald Trump congratulated the men's ice hockey team after they won gold at the Milan/Cortina Winter Olympics on Sunday.

"Congratulations to our great U.S.A. Ice Hockey team. THEY WON THE GOLD. WOW!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

According to coach Mike Sullivan, Trump also called the team to congratulate them.

The White House had a more controversial way of celebrating the victory.

On X, they reposted an old post from former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in which he said: "You can't take our country - and you can't take our game."

The White House repost included a picture of a bald eagle, a national symbol of the US, hunting a Canadian goose.

Trudeau's post was from last year, when Canada won the 4 Nations Face-Off against the US amid political tension between the nations.

The US claimed Olympic gold after a 2-1 overtime win against the Canadians.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on X: "Congratulations on a hard-fought and well-earned silver, Team Canada. You made your country proud."
