PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Senior Addy Freihaut scored 28 points to lead Tri-Valley to a 62-40 win over visiting Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley on Thursday.
The win clinches an undefeated Heart of Illinois Conference championship for the Vikings. Tri-Valley (27-2, 12-0) is the top seed at the class 2A Decatur St. Teresa regional next week.
Washington, ranked No. 1 in class 3A, finished off the regular season with an impressive 71-58 win at class 4A third-ranked Waubonsie Valley. Senior Avery Tibbs scored 34 points and passed the 2,000-point plateau for her career with the Panthers.
Washington (28-2) opens the postseason on Monday as the top seed at the Dunlap regional. Other girls basketball winners on the final night of the regular season included El Paso-Gridley, Eureka, Tremont, and Heyworth.
