PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — There will be familiarity in soccer regional title games around central Illinois Friday.

Morton, Richwoods, Normal West, U-High, Washington and Dunlap were among the teams winning regional semifinals Tuesday night. They advance to play familiar foes for regional championships.

At the 2A Metamora regional: Dunlap beat Galesburg, 7-0, while Washington beat Metamora, 4-0. Setting up a title game between the Eagles and Panthers, who played to a 1-1 draw in their Mid-Illini Conference match-up earlier this season.

At the 2A Peoria regional: Morton blanked Limestone, 8-0, while Richwoods defeated Pekin, 3-1. The Potters and Knights meet for a regional title Friday; Morton beat Richwoods, 4-0, on April 24.

At the 2A Normal regional: U-High advanced with a 9-0 win over Bloomington and host Normal West shut out Champaign Centennial, 3-0. The Pioneers beat Normal West, 7-1, as part of the Intercity Tournament on April 1.

At the 1A Bloomington regional, Central Catholic beat Cornerstone Christian, 7-0, to advance to the Friday regional title match it is hosting. The Saints will play the winner of Wednesday’s match-up between Champaign St. Thomas More and Urbana.

Winners in class 1A softball regionals included Havana, Prineville, and Heyworth. IVC, Eureka, Pontiac, Brimfield, El Paso-Gridley and Olympia won 2A regional semifinals.

In class 3A softball regionals, Washington, Normal West, East Peoria, and U-High advanced.

Bloomington-Normal outlasted Washington, 13-12 in overtime, in a girl’s lacrosse regional quarterfinal. Morton, Metamora and U-High were among the baseball winners Tuesday.
