PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Elly McClelland scored with just four minutes left in the match to push visiting Normal Community past Richwoods, 3-2, in a Big 12 girls soccer showdown on Thursday.
McClelland scored on a scramble on front of the net as the Iron were trying to regain the lead they lost three minutes earlier. McClelland’s goal early in the second half gave Normal Community a 2-0 lead.
But Acosia Morris put Richwoods on the board in the 65th minute and teammate Addison Sharpe tied the game with a goal eight minutes later. McClelland jumped on a loose ball in the box and buried her second goal of the night to give Normal a 3-2 lead in the 76th minute.
Notre Dame, Dunlap and U-High also won in girls soccer. Dunlap, East Peoria and Pekin were among the softball winners on Thursday.
Morton, Dunlap, IVC, Brimfield and Farmington won high school baseball games.
