Will the Philadelphia Flyers take a swing at an RFA signing? What about draft rankings and an under-the-radar trade target?

We’ve got plenty to talk about on today’s edition of the PhHN Daily.

For the first time in my life, I am in Europe. My family is on vacation, and stop 1 is London, which is a pretty neat city. It was not built on a grid, which shows. I love seeing all of the architecture around, the history in the city, and I really do love that it’s not just a grid. There is character in the streets, and sure, the 80 degrees and sunny weather probably helped, but everyone just seemed happy. It was a really cool day, I am looking forward to the rest!

The Flyers have to find a 1C, but they’re not the only team doing so. Could an Atlantic division rival get aggressive in their pursuit? Philly Hockey Now: Could the Flyers go the RFA route to land some top talent this summer? We list 4 RFA targets that would be worth the compensation taken to sign the player, including 3 defensemen and a center.

We also started our report card series, beginning with the third pair of defensemen. We grade Nick Seeler, Emil Andrae, and Noah Juulsen’s season in Philly.

Who knows what the Flyers will do in the 2026 NHL Draft? At pick No. 21, they are in a weird gray area where they likely cannot get a future 1D or 1C, but should they still avoid drafting a winger? We rank the top centers in this year’s draft class.

Speaking of needing a 1C, the Flyers will likely have to go the trade route if they want to find one before next season. There was a lot of talk about big names, but Matty Beniers could be an under-the-radar target for the Flyers.

Boston Hockey Now: The Flyers aren’t the only team in need of a 1C. The Boston Bruins are in need of one as well. Jack Studley breaks down why now is the time to find one, but also that the Bruins cannot get desperate in their search.

Montreal Hockey Now: After winning Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Montreal Canadiens have taken a fall and are now down 3-1 to the Carolina Hurricanes. Marc Dumont recaps Game 4, writing that the new Habs have turned into the old Habs.

Sportsnet: Nick Kypreos has released his first trade board of the summer. Shockingly, no Flyers made the list, but there are some interesting names on the list. Maybe a few potential targets?

NHLTradeRumors.me: The Colorado Hurricanes got swept out of the playoffs after being the heavy favorites to win the Cup. Now, could head coach Jared Bendar’s future be up in the air? Tony Renck is calling for change behind the bench, despite Bednar being the best coach in franchise history.

Toronto Sun: And finally… is Mitch Marner sour? Steve Simmons wrote another column, talking about the Toronto native and former Maple Leaf, who, despite all of his success in Vegas, made it to the Stanley Cup Finals, still brings up his “dark days” from Toronto.

An interesting read, to say the least.
