Around the league, we got some fresh “breaking news” here on Wednesday morning, including a massive front office shakeup in the Atlantic and a Flyers’ free agent target coming off the board. Elsewhere, we have another front office shakeup, as well as an idea of a reunion in the Central Division.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: With the Leo Carlsson offer sheet saga behind us, the Flyers’ next focus is on resigning Trevor Zegras and Jamie Drysdale. The two sides could negotiate a deal before arbitration, but once that hearing comes, it’s final. So, how long do the Flyers have until the arbitration hearings? We’ve got an update!

Sticking with Philly Hockey Now, we’ve opened up our second mailbag of the summer! Don’t forget to get your submissions in before the window closes! If you do have questions for our next mailbag, leave them in the comments on this link!

The Athletic ($): Scott Wheeler of The Athletic is a known prospect guy. Every year, he’ll rank his top-100 team-affiliated U-23 players. His most recent edition is out now. Despite a 2025 NHL with 6 picks in the first 2 rounds, the Flyers have just 2 on Wheeler’s list: Porter Martone (3) and David Jiricek (97). See who else made the list here.

The Detroit Red Wings announced on Wednesday morning that President of Hockey Ops and GM Steve Yzerman has stepped down from his role, but will remain with the team as an advisor.

Wow. It seems like the “Yzerplan” has come to an end before the team’s playoff drought ended. Now, my curiosity makes me wonder how this will affect Dylan Larkin’s trade request. Could a new GM entice him to stay, or is he already out the door?

Now on to No. 2 of the fresh Wednesday morning news breaks.

Anthony Mantha to the New Jersey Devils

2 x $4.75M

Another Flyers’ free agent target comes off the board. In all honesty, I did not really see the fit with Anthony Mantha and the Flyers, but his name became linked with the team in recent days. Now, he’s off to New Jersey.

Boston Hockey Now: Speaking of front-office changes, the Boston Bruins made several. Jack Studley breaks down the Bruins’ recent front office changes, including bringing in former Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams.

Chicago Hockey Now: Connor Bedard is expected to miss 4 months with an injury. He also needs to sign a new deal, but that’s not the issue at the moment. When he is back out on the ice, he’s going to need some help, especially on the wing. Jack Bushman breaks down why a Patrick Kane homecoming can be the perfect fit.
