Penn State far exceeded anyone’s expectations for the Class of 2027, adding multiple four-star athletes and doing an excellent job at attracting some of their top targets. Pretty much everyone on their list has been checked off, whether because the player committed to the Nittany Lions or another school, except for one high-profile wide receiver.
Four-star pass catcher Khalil Taylor has been on Penn State’s radar for months now, with the school hosting him on multiple visits and pulling out all the stops to earn his commitment. For a while, he seemed incredibly keen on joining the team, but in recent weeks, the prevailing feeling has been that he’s become more interested in Nebraska.
Penn State was one of Taylor’s finalists, but he unfortunately decided to join the Cornhuskers instead.
247Sports has the Pennsylvania native ranked as a top-ten wide receiver in the state and just on the outside of the top-100 prospects in the nation. Taylor has become one of the biggest stars in his class, and many believe he can continue shooting up recruiting boards over the next year before he gets to the college level.
This was a commitment the Nittany Lions desperately needed, as they only have one wide receiver commit for 2027, Landon Blum, and looked to add another quality pass catcher next to him. Maybe there’s a chance that Taylor decommits and heads to Penn State that way, but he’s going to Nebraska for now, and this one is going to sting for a while.
