While the Nittany Lions will have a very busy official visit weekend, they will be missing a potentially pivotal recruit. Zahmar Tookes, after visiting with Florida, immediately decided to go with the Gators rather than go to Happy Valley. The New York native could have been another local recruit that the Nittany Lions signed to this impressive class, but he will be headed south next year.

This isn't quite the loss that some may have expected, but Tookes could have fit the profile Penn State wanted right away. The Nittany Lions only have three defensive linemen in their 2027 class, and two are defensive tackles in Stanley Montgomery and Aniti Paiva. Given their lack of depth and experience at the position, one would think that Tookes would be a primary focus.

The Nittany Lions still have another four-star edge rusher in Ifeanya Emedobi visiting this weekend, but Matt Campbell seems to believe that the depth up front for now is good enough. Next year's cycle could prove to be more fruitful for the Nittany Lions in their chase for depth at the position.
