The Nittany Lions continue to get bad news along the recruiting trail no matter the position. This time, they will be losing out on an edge rusher who could have changed the game up front for them. Ifeanya Emedobi, who was the 44th ranked player in the class, committed to Michigan over both the Nittany Lions and Minnesota. He is the kind of physical specimen that the Nittany Lions would have wanted in their new edge talent, but it was not meant to be.

Over his final season in high school, he was able to amass 50 tackles, 19.5 for loss, 5.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. The kind of raw talent that new defensive coordinator D'anton Lynn desires is that of the players who can be aggressive like Emedobi without having to do too much to get to the QB. Emedobi's rare size combined with an elite explosiveness allows him to constantly get pressure on opposing offenses without relenting.

Unfortunately, it will come with the Wolverines. It marks their 17th commitment in their class and a major win over two Big Ten rivals. They are also in a similar situation to the Nittany lions however, in that they will be losing some premier edge talent this season. Emedobi is seen as the perfect developmental prospect up front that can immediately impact the long term future of the squad.

For Penn State, they continue to be left picking up the pieces. While they recently picked up a commitment from four star end Elijah Guertin, losing Emedobi in this manner has to sting.
