The 12th former Iowa State signee to come to Penn State may be the best, according to several Iowa State staffers.

A so-called "hidden gem" in defensive end Elijah Reeder announced today that he will be joining Penn State. He is a top 50 player at the position and top 500 nationally, leading many to believe that he could be a diamond in the rough. Reeder initially signed with the Cyclones on National Signing Day. As a late entry to the class, Campbell really focused on watching his full senior season before inviting him for a visit to Ames in November.

Reeder did his job of looking the part of an underrated star as he had a highly productive senior season. He recorded 50 tackles, 19 of which were for loss, and had eight sacks. On the offensive side of the ball, he had six touchdowns on 16 carries. This led many in Iowa State circles to call him the "hidden gem from Jersey".

Now, that hidden gem from Jersey will be staying in the tri-state area instead of going to Ames. For the Nittany Lions, this is another huge addition to a class that really wasn't all that strong after national signing day. They signed just two players on the day, but now have 15 recruits in the class. They are still ranked 87th nationally and 17th overall in the Big Ten, with only Nebraska having fewer recruits.

Still, with the roster overhaul the Blue and White have underwent, 15 players is not bad. Especially when one of them is considered a "hidden gem".
