Reinforcements could be on the way for Penn State football's wide receiver room.

On Friday morning, CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported Syracuse transfer wide receiver Trebor Pena is on a visit campus.

It's no secret the Nittany Lions are in the market for another wide receiver, with Pat Kraft stating in February "we all know we need wide receiver help." Now, they have a chance to land one of the top wide receiver prospects in the transfer portal.

Though his first three seasons with the Orange were relatively quiet, Pena broke out in 2024 thanks to the arrival of Ohio State transfer quarterback Kyle McCord. Pena smashed his career highs with 84 receiving yards, 941 yards and nine touchdowns, all of which would've ranked first among Nittany Lions last season.

Pena also added 12 carries for 72 yards and a touchdown on the ground, giving him the potential to be involved in trick plays under offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki's scheme.

Pena also has experience as a punt and kick returner for Syracuse, including 15 punt returns for 120 yards last season. though cornerback Zion Tracy served as Penn State's primary punt returner last season, Pena's special teams experience may allow him to push for the job.

The Nittany Lions previously brought in transfer wide receivers Devonte Ross from Troy and Kyron Hudson from USC, making it possible they start three new receivers next season, assuming they land Pena.

However, when asked about Pena's departure, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown said "If you wanna make $2 million at wide receiver, that’s the lil homie at Ohio State (Jeremiah Smith). Ain’t nobody else making that."

It's unclear whether Pena will request $2 million from the Nittany Lions, but it would put him among the highest paid players on the team.
