Or we should go 10 wins but Kyler craps the bed and can't clinch the playoffs. Unfortunately, I have to see that as a likely scenario, until he can prove otherwise one time--just one time--in his career.

It's certainly possible.

And what I'm saying is if that happens, the team likely runs it back with K1 in 2026.

If you're saying he plays so poorly in a playoff game that we release him it's unlikely. He's thrown 3 INTs in a game once in his six year career. Once out of close to 100 games.

Not worrying about Kyler until he no longer makes defenses pee their pants when he takes off downfield:)

I think he’s way overrated. He lacks the poise I like to see.
Allar has all the physical attributes you would want in a NFL QB. Having watched every PSU game last year, his poise is inconsistent. I've seen games where he looked very good and others where he was quite shaky. The one thing he lacks at PSU is good coaching which hurts his overall development. James (QB killer) Franklin talked him out of going to the Manning QB camp the previous Summer when it would have done Allar a lot of good. Historically, college QBs who have attended Manning's camp have sung praises of how much they learned from a mental standpoint by attending his camp or at least that is what I have read about it.

I think a team that values the physical aspects might be willing to roll with Allar thinking they can coach him up.

I became an Allar fan last season after only watching two games...it only took one series for me to start thinking this kid is an NFL QB. He isnt perfect or polished but he has all the traits and can make all the throws.
Poise comes with confidence and experience. Not just confidence in himself but also in his protection and receiving options.
Honestly, had he declared this year I would have run a 2nd round pick to the podium...the kid has a bright future if he goes to the right team.
of course,...if he goes to the Jets or Panthers he is screwed.
He also fits the Petzing offense
Thats sketchy from the coach. I would question the motives of any coach that doesnt want his players to do everything they can do to get better

That is my stance too, Oaken, and he even protects the ball pretty well too. Players like that just don’t last long on draft night.

Also, quarterbacks can take drastic steps forward from one year to the next in college. I could see him becoming a fairly obvious #1 pick when we get closer.

Surprised that they discuss 5 QBs and don’t add Leavitt. Might mean Leavitt stays another season if the draft is packed with QBs?

Murray's going to have to play pretty poorly to for the organization to hit the eject button on him after this year.

Not saying it's impossible we win three games and draft the top three, but overall the offense was pretty decent last year, and the defense will be much better this year. Much better. It's more likely we win 10 games than three.

What's more likely:

1. Cardinals win 10 games in 2025, Murray plays "meh" (similar to 2024) and then for 2026 we take a big cap hit by releasing K1, use a ton of draft capital to move into the top five, and risk everything on the 2nd or 3rd best QB?

2. Cardinals win 10 games, Murray plays "meh" and we run it back one more year with him as our QB1. In the next FA and draft we go all in on offense?

Under the 2nd scenario, Murray gets one last year to prove himself (I know, Stout, I know) with probably the best supporting cast since 2021. But, if in 2026 K1 keeps playing just well enough to get us beat, then Monti can make some kind of move to draft a QBOF, keeping the cap intact, and bringing in the new kid on a rookie contract and, most importantly, in to a ready made situation where he's likely to succeed.

Stout I want you to get excited about Kyler Murray being your QB1 for the next 34 - 38 games (depending on if we make the playoffs)! :)
This team is as ready made for a new QB as it ever will be. If Murray isn’t markedly better this season I think next offseason is the ideal time to jettison him. We’ve obviously got cap room and next years draft should be replete with QBs causing some that may be available outside the top 5 (think like Lamar Jackson or Aaron Rodgers).

Why in the world would you talk your QB out of attending that camp?!?

His WR corps the last two years have been second rate with no reliable target except for Warren the TE. The WR room hasn't been upgraded very much either for 2025. Their Oline was decent, not exceptional by any means.

I think Stout will back me on this in that Franklin is pretty much a control freak. He talked Allar into declining the invite, (that is the only way you get into the Manning camp as I understand it), and stay on campus and work with the team. Thing is the cam p is only one week. Hopefully Allar gets another invite and goes this time.
