Penn State football's portal purge continued into Tuesday.
As the spring transfer portal approaches its close, Nittany Lion defensive end Joseph Mupoyi became the latest player to go searching for a new home, according to a report by CBS' Matt Zenitz.
Mupoyi spent the past two seasons with Penn State, redshirting in 2023 while seeing no action. Last season he appeared in two games during garbage time, recording one total tackle.
Mupoyi was a 4-star recruit out of St. Thomas More High School in Connecticut, rated as the No. 40 edge rusher and No. 389 overall player in the 2023 cycle.
Mupoyi wasn't projected to see much playing time this season, with names like Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zuriah Fisher, Max Granville and Jaylen Harvey ahead of him.
Mupoyi joins guard JB Nelson, cornerback Jon Mitchell and linebackers Ta'Mere Robinson and Backham Dee as Penn State players to hit the portal recently.
If the Nittany Lions want to trim down to the 105 player roster limit likely to be implemented soon, they'll need several other players to go portaling as well.
