The New England Patriots went out and got their left guard.

After trading center Garrett Bradbury to the Chicago Bears, the expectation is that the Patriots would slide Jared Wilson to center. But that left a big hole at left guard.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Patriots are signing former New York Jets guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, keeping him in the AFC East.

"The #Patriots are banking on the upside, which is considerable. When healthy, Vera-Tucker has been Pro Bowl caliber," Rapoport writes.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's a three-year, $42 million deal worth upwards of $48 million.

The worry with Vera-Tucker is his injury history, having missed 42 games while appearing in 43 since he was drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. At 6-foot-5 and 308 pounds, Vera-Tucker provides flexibility for the Patriots, having started games at left guard, right guard, and right tackle. However, he was sidelined during the 2025 season due to a torn tricep.

With this move, the projected starting offensive line will have Will Campbell at left tackle, Vera-Tucker at left guard, and Jared Wilson at center. Then it will be Mike Onwenu at right guard and Morgan Moses playing right tackle.

Along with Vera-Tucker, the Patriots also signed edge defender Dre’Mont Jones and fullback Reggie Gilliam once the NFL's open tampering period began Monday at noon.
