The New England Patriots are reportedly signing another former division rival, with the team agreeing on a one-year deal with former Miami Dolphins linebacker KJ Britt, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Britt's agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey, confirmed the news through Schefter on Wednesday.
The former fifth-round draft pick is a powerful veteran linebacker with 16 NFL starts under his belt. He's a proven defensive contributor with extensive special teams experience. Last season with the Dolphins, he contributed on special teams for 77 percent of the snaps, while only contributing to 14 percent of the defensive snaps.
So the vision is clear from a Patriots standpoint of Britt potentially serving as a core special-teamer with the ability to work in as a depth option at linebacker.
He appeared in 17 games with one start in his one-and-done year in Miami, racking up 35 tackles and one quarterback hit. This move comes after the Patriots reportedly agreed on a three-year deal with Buffalo Bills fullback Reggie Gilliam.
That's two former division rivals now making their way to New England.
