Jared Wilson from Georgia football is officially an NFL rookie after being picked by the New England Patriots in the 2025 NFL draft. He was the No. 95 overall draft pick.
Here's what Wilson brings to the Patriots, based on our observations during his career with Georgia.
Plenty of upside. Wilson moved into a starting center role in 2024 after waiting behind Buffalo Bills 2024 fifth-round pick and three-year starter Sedrick Van Pran-Granger. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound native of Winston-Salem, N.C., was hyped by coach Kirby Smart before last season as being faster than some of his defensive backs, tight ends and quarterbacks. He did run the fastest 40 of any offensive lineman at the combine with a 4.84 40 which was faster than two tight ends there.
Started 12 games last season on an offensive line that had four 2025 draft prospects on it. Named second-team All-SEC by the league's coaches, Wilson said he wanted to show in the pre-draft process that he wasn't just a "one dimensional center" but could play all three interior line spots. Having only played one season as a starter might be a concern from some, but he practiced against the likes of Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Travon Walker in practices before then. Lance Zierlien of NFL.com wrote that Wilson lacks "the size and power to hold his own against an NFL nose tackle and will "need help from bigger guards next to him."
Wilson shined in inside zone in Georgia's offense and did not allow a sack in 810 snaps last season while giving up 5 hurries and 6 pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. He played 131 snaps in 2023 and 67 in 2022 as a reserve including 77 total at right guard those seasons.

Dane Brugler, the draft analyst at The Athletic, compared Wilson to Rodney Hudson who spent 12 years in the NFL with the Chiefs, Raiders and Cardinals after being a second-round pick in 2011. Wilson "has a wide base, he plays with strong hands and takes good angles to the second level."
