The New England Patriots are going all in on their offensive line repair project, which is evident by their decision to use the No. 95 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft on Georgia center Jared Wilson.
Improving in the trenches is the quickest ticket back to relevancy for the Patriots, and they made a worthy investment in a potential future starter in Wilson.
The team cut longtime captain David Andrews in the offseason and moved to sign veteran free agent Garrett Bradbury as a replacement.
But it was always evident that Bradbury wasn't going to be the long-term option in New England. He's a serviceable chess piece for the time being, but there's a reason the Minnesota Vikings moved on from him and upgraded to Ryan Kelly at center.
Bradbury will serve as a solid bridge option for the team while developing Wilson behind the scenes. The former Georgia standout won't wow you with his raw power along the offensive front, but he's a solid technician with great footwork for his size.
All of the mechanical tools are there for him to be a great player, but the physical part needs to catch up to make it all click. The responsibility will fall on the coaching staff to develop him the right way.
Adding a future long-term prospect at center was another necessary check on the Patriots' draft list. Wilson is a tremendous athlete with the talent to serve as a franchise piece on offense for years to come.
Grade: B
