After trading down two times, the New England Patriots selected Georgia center Jared Wilson with the No. 95 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
This move is an aggressive effort by Patriots' coach Mike Vrabel to improve in the trenches. The Patriots had one of the worst offensive lines in the league last season, and they've committed two picks in the top-100 to fix things.
Wilson was the best center on the draft board, and he's also a likely future starter for the Patriots. The team released David Andrews in the offseason and signed veteran free agent Garrett Bradbury as a replacement.
Bradbury is a viable option with plenty of starting experience, but he had his own struggles during his run with the Minnesota Vikings. It's the main reason why the team opted to move on from him and upgrade to Ryan Kelly instead. Bradbury now gets to serve as a bridge starter until Wilson is ready to take the reins as a potential long-term option at the position.
One thing is certain: The Patriots are going all in on building around Drake Maye in this draft with Wilson, offensive tackle Will Campbell, running back TreVeyon Henderson and wide receiver Kyle Williams being their first four picks.
