Relationships between quarterbacks and wide receivers are perhaps the most important thing for any successful NFL team.

Outside of above-average defenses, quarterbacks and wide receivers have to be on the same page. Fortunately for the New England Patriots, that's something they've attempted to continue building over the past few months. Landing AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs, there's a lot of hope that both guys will star next to Drake Maye.

Maye already has receivers he's worked with for a few years, including Kayshon Boutte. The young receiver out of LSU has been with Maye throughout his career, and both seem to genuinely like each other. Speaking to reporters, Maye had a lot of good things to say about Boutte, who requested a trade during the offseason per reports.

“I think just the way Kayshon approaches it. He’s here. He’s here now,” Maye said, per the Globe. “He’s where his feet are at. I’m having fun throwing to him out there in practice. He’s doing a great job, and he makes plays when the football is in the air. That speaks for itself. I’ve had a lot of great times with Kayshon, and I’m looking forward to keep getting better each and every day.”

From the sound of things, Boutte isn't on the trade market at the moment, despite requesting that trade. It's very possible that stuff goes in a different direction if he doesn't get the football a lot, but it's at least an early sign that there's respect between the two.

That could be the reason why he ends up staying in New England in the short and long term.
