The New England Patriots are coming off a Super Bowl appearance in 2025 and are looking to go that one step further in 2026. Quarterback Drake Maye now has some new receivers to throw to, as well. AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs joined the Patriots this offseason in an effort to bolster this offense.
The Patriots entered the offseason needing upgrades on offense. Now, some consider New England’s receiver room to be a bit too deep. Maye recently shut down those concerns during a recent appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
“Start off the bat with A.J. [Brown], having him coming in and kind of set the tone for the room. I think him and Romeo [Doubs] — the guys in there, they’ve really enjoyed the competitive drive in that room. People say it’s a crowded room but, as you know as receivers go, you’re going to need everybody,” the Patriots quarterback said.

New England rode a dominant defensive performance to the Super Bowl in 2025. However, their offense was stagnant in the postseason. In fact, they only scored 20+ points once in their playoff run. Outside of that performance, they scored more than 15 points just once in that run.
Adding Brown and Doubs should help take this offense to new heights. Their passing game was already strong, and their running game was strengthened during the offseason. The Patriots will hope this new offense begins on a positive note when they kick off the 2026 season on September 9th in a Super Bowl rematch with the Seattle Seahawks.
