The Carolina Panthers went through the 2025 NFL Draft with a few needs. While Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan wasn't expected to be one of the options for the Panthers at No. 8. However, Dan Morgan and company felt they needed to fill out with more weapons for Bryce Young as the top priority.

Former Panthers QB Jake Delhomme joined Kyle Bailey on WFNZ in Charlotte to give his thoughts on the draft as a whole for Carolina. He admitted there were only a select few being looked at in the first round.

"I thought there was a possibility for three guys," Delhomme told WFNZ's Kyle Bailey. The former Panthers QB thought Michigan Mason Graham would've been a perfect fit in Carolina, but he ended up going fifth overall to the Cleveland Browns. This left a decision between Georgia's Jalon Walker and Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan.

"If you listen to Dan (Morgan) in the post-draft press conferences, he kind of told you the thinking behind it," Delhomme said. He felt the next time we pick after No. 8, that's going to be No. 57. But he said the receivers, the ones we liked, we didn't think they would be there. But felt comfortable with the quality of the defensive end and defensive line players that would be there."

Morgan agrees with Delhomme's assessment of the draft. He recently sat down with Panthers team reporter Kristen Balboni and franchise legend Thomas Davis and was asked about how special McMillan is for the future.

"When we had the opportunity to add a playmaker like Tet, I think we had to strike," Morgan said. "I felt like he was a difference-maker, I felt like he was a guy that could really help our offense, change our offense—and that's no offense to any of those other edge rushers. But with a talent like Tet—the frame that he has, the hands that he has, the run-after-catch, the body control that he has—we just felt like we couldn't pass up on that talent."

McMillan was the highest-ranked recruit signed in Arizona football history. He earned First-team All-American and All-Big 12 honors with 1,319 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. McMillan also Set an Arizona school record with 3,423 career receiving yards.
