What are the Carolina Panthers getting in their new wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan? Well, McMillan himself provided an answer to that.

On Thursday night, the University of Arizona standout was selected by the Panthers with the eighth overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft. McMillan spoke with reporters shortly after, and was asked what he believes he brings to the team.

"I think I bring a lot," McMillan replied. "I feel like I'm a reliable receiver—one that can play inside and outside, whatever they may need me. But also, I feel like I'm gonna bring a good energy to the locker room. I feel like I'ma build that camaraderie—that relationship with not only Bryce [Young], but with the other receivers in the room."

McMillan was awfully reliable at the collegiate level, where he amassed 3,423 yards and 26 touchdowns over three seasons for the Wildcats. In 2024, he was named a consensus All-American and a first-team All-Big-12 selection after tallying a conference-leading 1,319 receiving yards.

The 6-foot-4 22-year-old was later asked if he has any idols at the receiver position.

"First things first, my favorite football player ever is Larry Fitzgerald," he stated. "And then two receivers I watch and feel like I can emulate and similar play styles is Mike Evans and Keenan Allen."

So maybe the Panthers—after over a decade of suffering at the hands of Mike Evans—have a Mike Evans of their own now.
